PM Modi Highlights India’s Defence Self-Reliance at Exercise Bharat Shakti

Date:

Pokhran, Rajasthan – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the Exercise Bharat Shakti, underscored India’s strides towards self-reliance in defence needs, stating it as a “guarantee of confidence in the armies.”

“India becoming self-reliant in defence needs is also a guarantee of confidence in the armies,” said PM Modi. He emphasized that the assurance of using home-grown weapons boosts the morale of the armed forces during times of conflict.

“In the last 10 years, India has developed its own fighter aircraft. India has built its own aircraft carriers, C295 transport aircraft are being built in India. Modern engines are also going to be manufactured in India,” he added, highlighting the country’s significant advancements in defence manufacturing.

The Prime Minister also revealed a major decision taken by the cabinet recently. “Now we are going to design, develop and manufacture the fifth-generation fighter aircraft in India itself,” he announced, marking a significant step towards India’s self-reliance in defence technology.

The Exercise Bharat Shakti, held in Pokhran, Rajasthan, served as a platform for the Prime Minister to emphasize India’s commitment to strengthening its defence capabilities. The focus on indigenous manufacturing not only bolsters the country’s defence sector but also contributes to the broader goal of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India).

The announcement of the development of a fifth-generation fighter aircraft in India is a testament to the country’s growing technological prowess and its determination to safeguard its borders with home-grown solutions.
