The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, organized a national leadership dialogue on the theme “Preparing the Future Workforce for the Agentic AI Era” at the India Habitat Centre, in collaboration with Intel India.
Senior representatives from the government, industry, academia, and skill development sectors participated in the event, including Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC); Dr. M.M. Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT; Sudeep Srivastava, CEO of the IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary at MeitY; and Anshul Sonak, Head and Global Director at Intel.
The dialogue focused on the opportunities and challenges arising from Agentic AI and on preparing India’s workforce for an AI-driven economy. Participants identified evolving skill requirements, industry-aligned curricula, experiential learning, faculty training, AI-enabled education, and strong collaboration among government, industry, and academia as the key pillars of a future workforce strategy.
CBFC Chairman Shri Shashi Shekhar Vempati emphasized the need for skill development and continuous learning to prepare India’s future workforce for the era of Agentic AI. Commending the initiative by NIELIT and Intel India, he stated that it is essential to equip the youth with practical, industry-focused training in emerging technologies. He highlighted the importance of strong collaboration among the government, industry, and academia to meet future employment needs.
Mr. Sudeep Srivastava, COO of the IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary at the Ministry, emphasized the need for industry-based training, AI-focused educational programs, and digital learning initiatives to strengthen AI capabilities within educational institutions. He also highlighted the necessity of fostering AI talent, AI Data Labs, and industry-academia partnerships to provide students, researchers, and professionals with practical AI experience.
Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT, said, “The rapid growth of AI is creating new opportunities and skilling needs. Through our collaboration with Intel India, NIELIT is combining its nationwide skilling network with Intel’s technology expertise to equip learners and educators with Agentic AI capabilities and prepare them for the next phase of technological transformation.”
Ms. Shweta Khurana, Sr. Director, Asia Pacific & Japan, International Government Affairs, Intel, said, “AI is reshaping education, jobs and industries, making human readiness increasingly important. Building AI skills will be key to expanding opportunities, strengthening economic resilience and advancing technological sovereignty. Our partnership with NIELIT marks an important step toward putting this vision into practice.”
Under this dialogue, the NIELIT-Intel India Agentic AI Skills Initiative was launched, aiming to expand AI training opportunities aligned with industry needs and prepare skilled AI talent for the future.
Two Key Programmes Under the Initiative:
1. Agentic AI for Everyone
This program develops a practical understanding of AI automation, AI agents, and multi-agent systems. Participants will learn to build smart workflows and agentic systems using no-code platforms, thereby enhancing productivity and decision-making capabilities.
2. Engineering Agentic AI Systems
This program focuses on the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered agentic systems, offering learners hands-on experience with agent architectures, tool integration, orchestration, memory, and deployment through both no-code/low-code platforms and code-based frameworks. The National Leadership Dialogue and Agentic AI Skills Initiative represent a significant step towards strengthening the skills and education ecosystem to align with the evolving AI landscape, while fostering collaboration among government, academia, and industry.
