Lower Voter Turnout in Rajasthan: A Wake-Up Call for BJP

Date:

Rajasthan, India – The first phase of the Lok Sabha polls in Rajasthan witnessed a lower voter turnout than expected. BJP candidate from Bhilwara constituency, Damodar Agarwal, admitted that the party shares some responsibility for the reduced voting percentage.

“It is our fault too. Our people felt that we were winning, and the Congress felt that they were losing. In such a situation, the voting percentage has reduced a lot,” Agarwal confessed. He further added that this initial polling phase has served as a lesson for the party. “Now, we are alert. You will observe a good voting percentage on April 26,” he assured.

Agarwal also commented on the performance of the opposition in the Lok Sabha polls. He criticized the constituents associated with the INDIA alliance, stating that they do not take it seriously.

“Apart from PM Narendra Modi, who is the candidate for Prime Minister in the nation? There is no one… Even if you ask Rahul Gandhi about this, he will also take the name of Narendra Modi,” he remarked.

This statement reflects the confidence of the BJP in their Prime Ministerial candidate and their belief in the lack of a strong contender from the opposition. As the next phase of polling approaches, it remains to be seen how the parties strategize to mobilize voters and whether the BJP’s self-reflection translates into action on the ground.
