Ajmer Outer Ring Road Project Gains Momentum as Vasudev Devnani Meets Nitin Gadkari

In a major push to improve traffic management in Ajmer, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, urging early approval of the proposed Outer Ring Road project.

Rising Traffic Pressure in Ajmer

During the meeting, Devnani highlighted the growing traffic congestion in Ajmer, citing its importance as:

  • A major religious destination
  • An administrative hub
  • A key tourism center

The city attracts lakhs of visitors annually due to the presence of Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Pushkar, adding to daily traffic pressure.

₹892 Crore Project Awaits Centre’s Approval

Devnani informed that:

  • The Rajasthan government has approved ₹3 crore for DPR preparation in Budget 2025–26
  • The Public Works Department has prepared a project plan worth ₹892 crore

The proposal is now awaiting final approval from the Central Government.

Need for Urgent Implementation

He emphasized that Ajmer handles:

  • Around 800 roadways buses daily
  • Heavy movement of commercial vehicles

This significantly increases congestion within city limits, making the Outer Ring Road crucial for traffic decongestion and smoother mobility.

Gadkari Assures Positive Action

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari responded positively and assured that necessary steps will be taken soon to move the project forward.

Benefits of the Outer Ring Road

Once completed, the project is expected to:

  • Reduce traffic jams داخل the city
  • Divert heavy and through traffic outside city limits
  • Improve urban mobility and road safety
  • Boost tourism and economic activities

During his visit to New Delhi, Devnani also met:

  • Union Health Minister JP Nadda

He discussed issues related to expansion of healthcare services and other development priorities in Ajmer.
