Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath jointly inaugurated the “Nausena Shaurya Vatika” in Lucknow on May 30, 2026. Built at a cost of ₹19 crore on an area of over two acres, this open-air museum is dedicated to the spirit, valour, and courage of the Indian Navy. It showcases artefacts and weapon systems from INS Gomati, which was decommissioned on May 29, 2022 after 34 years of service.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defence Minister described the Naval Shaurya Vatika as not only a tourist destination, but also a symbol of inspiration that will remind future generations of the true cost of freedom and security. He further said that the park will serve as a constant reminder of the nation’s safety and security, which has been safeguarded through the valour and sacrifices of the country’s brave warriors. “It is much more than just a well-built structure; it reminds us to be thankful for our soldiers and inspires young people to help build the nation, he said.”
Shri Rajnath Singh commended the Indian Navy’s strong maritime presence and operational readiness, stating that amid the current geopolitical turmoil, the key to global peace and prosperity lies in the security of sea lanes. He commended the Indian Navy’s exceptional contribution during Operation Sindoor, in collaboration with the Indian Army and Air Force. “Our Navy’s formidable position in the Arabian Sea instilled a constant sense of fear in the enemy. As a result, the Pakistani Navy remained confined to its ports,” he said.
The Defence Minister said that the sustained efforts of the last decade are bearing fruit as domestic defence production, which was a mere Rs 46,000 crore in 2014, has grown to over Rs 1.51 lakh crore and is poised to touch another record of Rs 1.75 lakh crore soon. He further said that defence exports have grown from less than Rs 1,000 crore in 2014 to nearly Rs 40,000 crore today.
In his address, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh paid tribute to the country’s brave soldiers, saying that their security allows every citizen to sleep peacefully. He stressed that development plans can only move forward in a safe and strong nation, protected by its soldiers. He further said that respect and commitment to the welfare of defense personnel is an essential part of the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
Deputy Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya and Shri Brajesh Pathak, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and other senior civil and military officials were present on the occasion. (PIB)
