Vice-President Launches Har Ghar Tiranga Rally of MPs to Commemorate 150 Years of Vande Mataram

Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan today flagged off the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Bike Rally with Members of Parliament and other public representatives at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, commemorating 150 years of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’. This rally was taken out from Bharat Mandapam to Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, conveying a message of national pride, unity, and citizen participation.

Recalling his visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Vice President paid tribute to Netaji and the freedom fighter martyrs of the Cellular Jail. He honored their sacrifice amidst chants of ‘Vande Mataram’.

In his address, he stated that Vande Mataram linked patriotism with a sense of national duty and infused the freedom struggle with new energy. Its words inspired numerous freedom fighters to display courage and make sacrifices.

Highlighting the widespread impact of Vande Mataram on the freedom struggle, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan recalled the contributions and sacrifices of freedom fighters from Tamil Nadu such as Subramania Bharati, V.O. Chidambaram Pillai, Subramania Siva, Tiruppur Kumaran, and Vanchinathan.

Several Members of Parliament and public representatives, including Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Virendra Kumar, G. Kishan Reddy, Kiren Rijiju, and Jitendra Singh, participated in the rally.

The Vice President stated that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, has now become a mass movement with citizens participating in Tiranga Yatras, bike and cycle rallies, cultural programmes and other activities. He called upon Members of Parliament and public representatives to promote the campaign in their constituencies and inspire people to hoist the Tricolour with pride.
