The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful test-firing of the Made-in-India Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MP-ATGM) at a field firing range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The test, conducted recently, marks a key advancement in India’s indigenous defense capabilities.

According to DRDO officials, the test-firing was executed flawlessly, demonstrating the missile’s precision and effectiveness. The MP-ATGM is designed to enhance the combat effectiveness of Indian armed forces by providing a lightweight, portable solution for engaging and neutralizing enemy armored vehicles.

The missile system is notable for its advanced features, including a guidance mechanism that ensures high accuracy and reliability. It is expected to play a crucial role in bolstering the defense preparedness of Indian troops, particularly in challenging terrain and combat scenarios.

“This successful test-firing underscores our commitment to advancing indigenous defense technology and enhancing the operational capabilities of our armed forces,” said a DRDO official. “The MP-ATGM represents a significant leap forward in our defense technology and demonstrates the robustness of our indigenously developed systems.”

The development and successful testing of the MP-ATGM align with India’s broader strategy to strengthen its defense sector through self-reliance and innovation. The missile is expected to undergo further evaluations and field trials before being inducted into service.

The successful test-firing of the MP-ATGM is a testament to the DRDO’s ongoing efforts to develop cutting-edge defense technologies and contribute to the nation’s security. It reflects the organization’s capability to produce world-class defense equipment that meets the stringent requirements of modern warfare.
