Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives to strengthen cooperative and competitive federalism, stating that the government is focused on enhancing urban development through strategic waste management solutions.
Addressing a gathering in Jaipur, Khattar said, “PM Modi has taken several steps to strengthen cooperative and competitive federalism. His vision ensures that states work together while also competing to achieve better governance and development outcomes.”
As part of the Smart Cities Mission, Khattar announced a new initiative aimed at tackling waste management through an integrated approach among 100 smart cities.
“I have announced a competition through which we are targeting to achieve waste management solutions among 100 smart cities. This initiative will push cities to adopt innovative strategies for sustainability, cleanliness, and urban efficiency,” he stated.
The government’s Smart Cities Mission has been focused on enhancing urban infrastructure, digital governance, and environmental sustainability, with waste management emerging as a crucial component. The newly announced competition is expected to encourage state and city administrations to develop smarter, technology-driven solutions for waste disposal, recycling, and urban sanitation.
The move aligns with the broader vision of creating cleaner and more sustainable cities while fostering healthy competition among states and municipalities.
