International Women’s Day 2026: Free Bus Travel for Women Announced in Rajasthan

Jaipur: On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), women and girls in Rajasthan will be able to travel free of cost on Rajasthan Roadways buses within the state. The special initiative is expected to benefit around 8.5 lakh women passengers.

According to an order issued by the Transport and Road Safety Department, women and girls will be allowed to travel free of charge on all categories of ordinary buses operated by the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) within the state boundaries on March 8.

Facility Not Available in AC and Volvo Buses

RSRTC Executive Director (Traffic) Dr. Jyoti Chauhan said the free travel facility will be available on all regular buses, except air-conditioned and Volvo buses as well as buses operating under All India permits.

The initiative is aimed at enabling more women to travel conveniently across the state on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Recognising Women’s Contribution

The Rajasthan government’s decision is also seen as a gesture of respect and recognition for the contributions of women in society.

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 across the world to honour the achievements of women and highlight their role in social, economic and national development.

On this day, people across the country express appreciation for women and acknowledge their contributions to families, communities and society.
