Five-Year-Old Shaurya Maheshwari from Jaipur Wins Gold at International Taekwondo Championship

Date:

Jaipur: In a proud moment for Rajasthan’s sporting community, five-year-old Shaurya Maheshwari from Jaipur has won a gold medal in the Under-18 kg category at the prestigious Worldwide Super League (WWSL) International Taekwondo Championship 2026, showcasing exceptional talent at a very young age.

Shaurya, a student of Jayshree Periwal Pre School in Malviya Nagar, delivered an impressive performance in the kyorugi event, one of the most competitive forms of taekwondo combat, and emerged victorious against strong competition from participants across India and several other countries. The championship was held from April 10 to April 12, 2026, at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in the Rajasthan Police Academy, Jaipur.

The World Wide Super League International Taekwondo Championship is considered one of the major international martial arts events conducted under the initiatives of the Sports Authority of India and Fit India, attracting talented athletes from across age groups and categories. The tournament featured multiple disciplines including kyorugi, poomsae, speed kick, speed punch, and taekwondo dance.

Despite being just five years old, Shaurya displayed remarkable confidence, agility, and discipline during the competition. His gold medal victory has drawn praise from coaches, parents, and the local sports community, with many calling him one of Jaipur’s most promising young martial arts talents.

Shaurya trains under the guidance of coach Richa Gaur, an international taekwondo player and mentor at the Global Institute of Self Defence and Martial Arts (GOSEDMA). Under her leadership, the GOSEDMA team performed exceptionally well at the championship, securing a total of 16 medals across different categories.

This is not Shaurya’s first international success. Last year, he had already made headlines by winning a bronze medal at the Kukkiwon International Tournament held in Delhi, making this his second international medal in taekwondo before even turning six. His consistent performance at such a young age reflects strong dedication and disciplined training.

Sports experts believe that achievements like these are important not only for individual recognition but also for inspiring more children to participate in martial arts and fitness activities from an early age. With India placing increasing focus on grassroots sports development, young athletes like Shaurya represent the future of competitive sports.

Parents and school authorities have also congratulated the young champion, celebrating his achievement as a proud moment for Jaipur and for the school community.

Shaurya Maheshwari’s gold medal victory stands as a strong example of how talent, discipline, and the right guidance can create extraordinary success even at a very young age. His performance at the WWSL International Taekwondo Championship has not only brought pride to Jaipur but has also marked the beginning of what could be a very bright sporting future.
