PM Modi Greets Nation on Rath Yatra, Highlights India’s Rich Cultural Legacy

The world-famous holy Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath begins today. On this occasion, PM Modi extended his best wishes to all devotees. He prayed that the blessings of Lord Jagannath remain upon everyone always and that His divine grace infuses new energy into the lives of all citizens. He also remarked that this Rath Yatra is a unique expression of India’s centuries-old spiritual and cultural heritage.

On Thursday morning, PM Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Heartfelt greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of the holy Rath Yatra. It is a unique expression of India’s centuries-old spiritual and cultural heritage. The traditions associated with the Rath Yatra have inspired generations across India and the world. These traditions symbolise humility, collective participation, and selfless service.” He prayed that Lord Jagannath bless everyone with good health, happiness, and prosperity, grant strength for all endeavours, and further strengthen the spirit of unity in society.

In another post, PM Modi wrote, “On the holy occasion of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, I pray that His blessings remain with us always. May His divine grace infuse new energy into the lives of all countrymen.” On this occasion, PM Modi also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam (wise saying): “Devadeva Jagannatha surasuranamaskruta; Punyashlokavyayananta paramatmannamostu te.”

The Subhashitam conveys: “Lord Jagannath—the God of gods and the Lord of the entire universe—is worshipped with reverence by everyone, from celestial beings to all living creatures. His glory is sacred and benevolent. He is imperishable, infinite, and the Supreme Soul residing in the hearts of all beings. Salutations again and again to such a Lord Jagannath.”

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also extended his greetings and best wishes to all devotees on the commencement of the Rath Yatra. In a post on ‘X’, he wrote, “By the grace of Shri Jagannath Ji, may happiness, peace, prosperity, and positive energy fill all your lives. Jai Jagannath.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted, “Heartfelt greetings to all fellow countrymen on the occasion of the Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra. The world-renowned Jagannath Rath Yatra is a symbol of unwavering faith, trust, and devotion. This sacred Rath Yatra reflects the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage and steadfast reverence for the Lord. I pray to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of everyone.”
