India continued its impressive run on Monday with a resounding 17-1 victory over Indonesia in its second Pool B match at the 2026 Asian Games. Deepika Sehrawat, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, and Navneet Kaur all scored hat-tricks in what was India’s second consecutive win of the tournament.
Deepika, who scored a record eight goals in India’s 19-0 win over Uzbekistan, added three more against Indonesia, converting penalty corners in the 8th, 28th and 40th minutes. Rutuja scored three goals from open play, while Navneet also completed a hat-trick with strikes in the 35th, 56th and 57th minutes.
India took a commanding 9-0 lead by half-time, with Sunelita Toppo and Lalremsiami scoring two goals each. Sakshi Rana, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal and Deepika Sehrawat also found the net as India dominated Indonesia in the first half.
India started strongly, with Deepika opening the scoring from a penalty corner in the eighth minute. Sunelita, Lalremsiami and Rutuja Pisal then added goals as India dominated the first half and took a commanding lead into the break.
Shortly after the match resumed, Indonesia scored a goal, but India quickly regained their rhythm. Salima, Navneet, Ishika, Rutuja, and Deepika scored five more goals, and then, towards the end of the match, Navneet and Sakshi scored to make the score 17-1.
The win came after India’s emphatic 19-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their opening Pool B match, where Deepika scored eight goals to set a record for the most goals by an individual player in a single Asian Games hockey match. India will next take on Thailand on Wednesday, September 23, as they continue their Pool B campaign.
